Singers have a handy website where you can plug in your serial number and up pops your machine’s year of manufacture. Bernina owners are not so fortunate. Thankfully, your Bernina serial number does tell you your machine’s manufacture date.
If your serial number starts with a 4 is was manufactured in 2000-something, if it starts with a 3 it was manufactured in 1990-something, a 2 would be 1980-something, a 1 would be 1970-something.
The second digit in the serial number denotes the year in the particular decade.
For example if the first two digits of your serial number are 12 – your machine was made in 1972. If the first two digits are 34, your machine was made in 1994.
Easy peasy, right?
